Experience
I have several years of clinical experience working in low-cost counselling and psychotherapy services in Winchester and London, as well as in private practice. This includes work in NHS palliative care, Fresh Start Psychotherapy, The Olive Branch Counselling Services and the CCPE Clinic.
Before training as a psychotherapist, I gained experience across the public, corporate and charity sectors, as well as in self-employment. My work included environmental science, financial analysis and reporting, establishing and managing a charity, and senior commercial leadership roles.
Additional training & interests
Continuing professional development is something I particularly enjoy and regard as an important part of my practice. My additional learning has included exploring shame in the treatment of trauma, working with developmental trauma, adverse childhood experiences and death and dying.
I also have a particular interest in exploring experiences and questions relating to love, especially how we feel when we perceive it is something we don't have or can't get, in whatever form that may take.
I have facilitated a weekend workshop on this subject and hope to offer further workshops in the future.
Ethics & professional practice
From both a personal and professional perspective, I seek to uphold equality, respect difference and value diversity in all people.
I regard ethical practice as an ongoing process of reflection, enquiry and responsibility. I draw upon an evolving approach to ethical practice, alongside professional supervision and continuing learning, to support my self-awareness, professional judgement and fitness to practise.
My work is guided by the UKCP Code of Ethics and Professional Practice, which places importance on client wellbeing, safety, dignity and autonomy.
I aim to be clear and transparent about how we work together, including professional boundaries, our respective responsibilities, the limits of confidentiality and how your personal information is handled.
